Etymology[]
Chahuru is the name of a water deity in the mythology of the Pawnee people, who functioned as an intermediary between mankind and Tirawa.
Chahuru was invoked in matters pertaining to the water, seas, rivers and oceans, and in one story[1] redirected the course of a river by throwing a bolder.
