Etymology[]
- Deathblade, Jiru is perhaps a slightly mislocalised reference to the infamous child murderer, Gilles de Rais, who was accused of demon summoning, and later executed.
- Vampire-blade, Blodauth is perhaps a similar mistranslation of another infamous figure, Vlad Drăculea Țepeș - namesake and inspiration for the character of the vampire, Count Dracula.
- Demon Sword, Tyrving is named for the sword of the same name found in Norse Mythology. A cursed sword, it was forged with the power to never miss a stroke, never rust, and cut through iron and stone - but cursed to slay a man every time it was drawn, and eventually turn on its wielder.

- Demon Sword, Tyrving is mentioned off-hand in Shadow Hearts: Covenant, where it was apparently broken by Keith's brother, Joachim, during an argument over the loudness of Keith's snoring[1]
