The Gold Mask is one of the four masks in the Graveyard in Yuri's mind in the original Shadow Hearts. During the Europe portion of the game, it will appear as a regular enemy when the Malice meter peaks.
If the player seeks to obtain the good ending, they must defeat the four masks in a certain order (after defeating Albert and Amon in the Nemeton Basement, but before entering The Float).
The Gold Mask must be defeated second.
If the player has obtained the Oath Grail from Joshua in the London Rat's Hideout in London (which also details the order in which the masks must be fought), it will drain the Gold Mask's power when you fight it.

Battle Strategy
"Gwahahah!! Little girl...I've come for your soul! Behold, my power!"
The Gold Mask can only be damaged by using special skills so make sure that your MP is up to the max on this fight.
Another problem with this mask that it will use the curse Popping Shock which can cause some problems since the Judgement Ring will shrink and be difficult to see.
But if you fight them in order by using the Oath Grail that ability of his will go away. Other than that watch out for the ability strike which is the strongest earth enemy skill. But if you have your level up high than he will be a piece of cake.
Having already been defeated by Yuri, he is pitifully weak and will go down in less than two hits."*Pant*, *pant*...You brats!"
Trivia
- As the four masks relate to Tarot cards, the Gold represents Coins (sometimes known as Pentacles), which is the symbol for Earth, as well as having the face of a a lion/wolf/horned creature hybrid.
Coins are said to represent the physical body, and wealth. The suit would later evolve into the Diamond suit in standard Western decks of cards.
