The Staff Mask is one of the four masks in the Graveyard in Yuri's mind in the original Shadow Hearts. During the Europe portion of the game, it will appear as a regular enemy when the Malice meter peaks.
If the player seeks to obtain the good ending, they must defeat the four masks in a certain order (after defeating Albert and Amon in the Nemeton Basement, but before entering The Float).
The Staff Mask must be defeated third.
If the player has obtained the Oath Grail from Joshua in the London Rat's Hideout in London (which also details the order in which the masks must be fought), it will drain the Staff Mask's power when you fight it.
Dark soul waiting for the moment the dark world opens up to the world at large. It represents the harmonixers desire to be lazy.
Dark soul that represents the Harmonixer's Laziness. It lost against the Harmonixer's conscience. but defeat made it stronger.
"Hyahahah! Little girl, show your soul to me! Behold, such power!"
This mask will use a curse to halve the hit areas on the Judgement Ring, but the curse can be negated if the player follows the the directions of the Oath Grail and the Staff Mask lose his aura around him.
This mask is immune to special skills so just attack him for now. Watch out for Hell Fire it can do decent damage.
This mask knows SP Lowering so have everyone equipped with Will Power to negate that skill. This mask will go down in a few turns even thought it is immune to special skill attacks.
"Ho ho...oh...aww! Poor me!" ~ Defeated Staff Mask
Having already been defeated by Yuri, he is pitifully weak, and will be defeated in less than two hits.
- As the four masks relate to Tarot cards, the Staff represents Wands (sometimes known as Staves), which is the symbol for fire, as well as having the face of a primitive tribal mask.
Staves are said to represent knowledge, and nature. The suit would later evolve into the Clubs suit in standard Western decks of cards.
