The Asian man

The Asian Man

The Asian Man is an unnamed individual working for the Royal Medical Society to kidnap preganant women as part of their schemes.

Although he knew he was in shady and immoral business, he buried those feelings deeply.

Dressed in a top hat, and wearing a smiling breathing mask, he carried a device that would emit a sleeping gas, to knock those around him unconscious so he could carry off his targets without struggle.

However, on the night he came to abduct Pacey Jones, he was confronted by Koudelka, who thanks to her psychic powers (and the aid of the ghost of Mary Vermont, managed to fight off the effects of the gas and confront him.

Suprised, he attempted to convince her it was a dream, before gassing her. But she didn't give him a chance and tore off his mask, revealing his face to her.

He briefly thought about killing her, there and then. But saw something in her eyes that made him reconsider. Instead he pulled a smoke bomb from his coat and escaped with Pacey.

The Man in a Mask

His left behind mask would prompt Koudelka and the others to seek him out.

When he delivered Pacey to his employer, he told him that he had been seen, and that he hadn't been told that a woman like Koudekla was there - he had felt something strange from her.

To prompt him to type up that loose end, his hooded employer deliberately infected him with the fatal Black Fever, with the promise of a cure.

Unsatisfied with the deal, he made a visit to an associate who ran a herbal medicine shop to ask for his advice.

The herbalist was unable to offer any help, and confirmed the fact that the illness was fatal.

He questioned the Asian Man as to what he'd do next, only to be told that his only option would be to go after and kill Koudelka for having seen him. Promising that this time, he wouldn't hesistate, donning a new mask.

After being seen by Koudelka in a crowd, he led her to Covant Garden cemetary, where he hid, drawing out his sword.

Joshua Vermont, following Koudelka, tripped and inadventanly landed infront of the man before he was gassed unconcsicous.

The man used Joshua as bait, and dragged him to a maseolem to set an ambush.

When she tried to reach him, the Man struck, swinging his blade, only for her to dodge.

He was impressed with her reflexes, and reaffirmed that he knew there was something different about her. He toyed with her, slicing her at her clothes while she tried to fend him off with an old candlestick holder.

He had sensed she had power, but was disappointed that it was apparently so weak.

They were both taken by suprise, however, when a corpse in the guise of a nun raised itself from its crypt and offered to protect Koudelka if she came to them. The Asian Man could tell something was wrong, and thought Koudelka mad for getting close to them, only to be proved correct when three snake demons emerged and possessed her.

Disgusted, the Asian Man readied his sword to take this "witch" and these demons on, only to be blasted aside, and his mask shattered, as the demons tapped into Koudelka's latent powers.

Joshua had recovered by this time, and had to be saved by the Asian Man, who told him that Koudelka was now possessed.

The demons possessing Koudelka were amused when he treatened to kill them with his sword, only for part of the blade to shatter. Unpeterbed, he attached the hilt and remaining blade to a chain, determined to remove her head.

The demons pulled a sword from seemingly nowhere and the two clashed.

However, the effects of the Black Fever were begining to catch up with him, and his breathing was heavy, allowing the demons to pursue him. Despite this, he was still agile and managed to bind them in the chain.

But this didn't stop the demon, and one tore into his mind in search of his deepest guarded feelings.

He managed to withstand the mental assualt, to the demons suprise, but lost his calm collected manner when they did it again, before implaing him with their tails, seemingly killing him.

He wasn't finished, however, and when Koudelka managed to expel the demons from herself the Asian Man was there waiting, and decapitated the now vulnerable snake demons.

He was suprised to see that the events of their brief fight had been undone - the graves and trees were untouched - and that the power of the demons lay in illusion.

By this time the Black Fever had begun to kick in, and all he could do was stand there, exhausted and huffing, before he collapsed.

Joshua ran to his side, as he had been helped earlier, but was vomited on by the Asian Man's black blood.

As he lay dying, he cursed the man who had set him up, and told Koudelka that it was a doctor, but refused to tell her more. They were interuppted by the cemetary warden and fled, only for it to have been a ruse by Dr Horn so he could get a chance to kill the man by setting him alight.

Prepared to take the doctor with him, the Asian Man pulled the cords on his gas canisters, making an improvised explosive. Unfortunately, Dr Horn anticipated this, and was wearing a protective suit of his own design, which shielded him from the blast, while the Asian Man died in the explosion.

His body was found the next day by Inspector Victor Dickens, and planned for autopsy by Dr Horn, the unknowing brother of the man's killer.

The Asian Man would have his revenge on his killer post-mortem. When Dr Horn disguised himself as his own brother to kill Koudelka with a syringe, his ghost forcefully grabbed his arm, stopping the man and giving Koudelka time to react.

The Asian Man grinned at her before he faded away.
