Bestiary Entry[]
Ancient god of harvest. It protects the village when sacred, and brings bad luck when wicked. Its kicks are powerful.
Strategy[]
Before this, the player has been beat down twice by different bosses. But now, they can actually make a difference and fight to win!
This Yamaraja, despite the name, is a water element, so keep a good eye on Zhuzhen's health, since he is a fire element, as well as Alice's SP. It packs a mighty punch with physical attacks, and more so with its Flash Flood ability. Also, the Whirl Pool ability can wreak havoc, since it can cause narrowing on the Judgement Ring.
Yuri's fusions are optional. Raging Tiger is good for physical attacks, whereas Death Emperor is better for magic attacks; either way, if you're going to fuse Yuri with either, stick with it! Zhuzhen's ability Ogre Flame Dance will be a good attack to use during this battle, as the adept's physical power is lacking at best. And as one will find with many battles later in the game, Alice is best left defending when not not healing.
If you are going to use Death Emperor first use its Curse Attack on Zhuzhen to boost his special attack which will be very useful, then maybe use Death Emperor's Dark Messenger, with some Drain Waves to increase your MP points. But as long you keep doing decent damage to him he will fall, make sure you keep Alice's SP up!
Etymology[]

Yamarāja (also as "Yama" - "-rāja" is an honourific suffix denoting "king", or "lord") is the demigod of death, in early Hinduism, where he is charged with punishing the sinful.
Some tales state that he was the first man ever to die, while others maintain that he has always been a god of death.
Despite his origins in Hindu myth, his worship and customs spread across Asia, where he perfoms a similar role - directing souls to Naraka (Buddhist purgatory) to be punished, or renewed in the cycle of Karma.
He also, however, is a protector figure, and deliverer of justice in his aspect of a Dharmapala ("Wrathful God").
While the English localisation uses the Hindu name, and confusingly names him as Yamaraja: "Earth" despite his water element, his Japanese name "Enma-O: Sui Gaku" (閻羅王：彗嶽) uses his Japanese incarnation as judge of the dead, (King Enma), and identifies him as "King Enma: Sui Gaku".
